FC Bayern Munich: “We have a problem!” Salihamidzic and Struth in dispute over Nagelsmann contract

With Julian Nagelsmann, FC Bayern got its preferred candidate for the coaching position. However, there were a few difficulties beforehand.

Shortly before Julian Nagelsmann’s signature at Bayern Munich, there was apparently a dicey situation between sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and Nagelsmann consultant Volker Struth. This emerges from a scene in the new Amazon documentary “FC Bayern – Behind the Legend”.

In the scene, Salihamidzic and Struth are discussing an amendment to the contract that was apparently inserted by the Bayern board, which was not discussed with Struth and Nagelsmann.

“You changed something and we have a problem. You inserted a passage. We have to rephrase,” says Struth to Salihamidzic, who is then ignorant. “What is that now? What kind of passage?” Asks the 44-year-old. Struth replies: “The passage you said earlier has to be out again.”

FC Bayern Munich: Nagelsmann waived salary for a change

Which addendum to the contract it is remains unclear, but another scene shows how Salihamidzic and Marco Neppe, technical director at the record champions, are discussing and finding a solution. “We have to change the passage in such a way that it fits both of them,” says Neppe. Salihamidzic replies: “Good. A few in the middle and that’s it.”

And that’s how it happened: Nagelsmann signed a contract with Bayern until 2026,. According to the kicker can, if Nagelsmann gets the double twice by 2026.

The most recently published book by Nagelsmann consultant Struth shows that he was responsible for his move from RB Leipzig to FCB.
