Actually, the joint planning of the Union Ostermiething with their coach Robert Berg for the upcoming Upper Austrian league season had already been completed. “Last weekend, however, Robert informed us that he had an offer from the German regional league club SV Wacker Burghausen that he would like to accept,” says Richard Rusch, sporting director in Ostermiething. “Since we’ve worked together superbly and, above all, successfully in recent years, we wanted to give Robert the chance to become part of the coaching team in Burghausen.”
Successor comes from Seekirchen
Berg had been a coach in Ostermiething since the summer of 2017 and initially rose with the club in 2018 from the district league to the state league. The biggest milestone followed in the past season: For the first time in the club’s history, the Ostermiethinger made it into the Upper Austria league, where they are currently 14th in the table and have already secured their place in the league.
Despite the relatively surprising departure of their current coach, the club has already presented a successor: Christoph Mühllechner will be responsible for the Union coaching bench in the future. Mühllechner is currently assistant coach at the Salzburg regional league club SV Seekirchen and was also the head coach of the Vöcklamarkt Juniors in the district league.
