Gianluigi Donnarumma can not only look forward to winning the title with Italy. The keeper is also the player of the tournament.
Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was named Player of the Tournament by UEFA at the 2021 European Championship. After triumphing over England in the final, the 22-year-old received the trophy.
Donnarumma has always been a sure source of support for the European champions in all seven finals. Italy conceded only four goals in the entire tournament.
Player of the tournament: Donnarumma becomes a 911 hero in the European Championship finals
In the final, Donnarumma became the hero of the penalty shoot-out. The keeper parried the attempts of Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka and thus enabled the Squadra Azzurra to win 4-3 on penalties.
Incidentally, at club level, Donnarumma is changing. The newly crowned European champion has not renewed his contract with AC Milan and is expected to move to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
