Buenos Aires, June 9 (NA)– Independiente got some air in its fight to get away from relegation, beating Sarmiento de Junín 2-0, at home, in a match corresponding to the twentieth date of the Professional League football, played tonight in Avellaneda.
The two goals were from midfielder Matías Giménez, who scored 38 minutes into the first half and also 7 minutes into the second.
With this result, Independiente reached 21 points and was four points behind Arsenal, last in the annual table, while Sarmiento was left with 25, in thirteenth position.
In an interesting first half, Independiente started more orderly in its lines and looking for the spaces that Sarmiento began to show. At 26, Iván Marcone had the first clear shot with a mid-distance shot, but the ball went over the crossbar.
Then, Meza starred in a stupendous save on Baltasar Barcia’s shot that came from the right, but the Junín goalkeeper managed to get the ball to the corner.
At minute 38, after a corner kick from Martín Sarrafiore, Matías Giménez brought it down and hit it from the right to make it 1-0 for Avellaneda’s team.
In the complement, Sarmiento warned after 2 minutes with a shot from Sergio Quiroga, whose shot went long. Immediately, the locals responded with an arrival from Sarrafiore, sending a cross to the head of Giménez, who sealed the final 2-0.
Later, Sarmiento tried, he had two approaches but could not make it, and then at 36, he was left with ten after the expulsion of Guido Mainero.
