The Argentine Díaz Acosta is a finalist in the German Challenger in Heilbronn

The Argentine tennis player Facundo Díaz Acosta qualified today for the final of the Challenger in Heilbronn, in Germany, after beating the German Rudolf Molleker 7-5, 6-3.

Díaz Acosta, born in Vicente López and ranked 137 in the ATP world ranking, beat the German Molleker (338) after one hour and 37 minutes of play.

The 22-year-old Argentine will go in search of the title this Sunday against the winner of the semifinal that will be cheered later by the Spanish Pedro Martínez (135) and the Italian Matteo Arnaldi (106).

Díaz Acosta is having a great season after winning the Challengers in Savannah, in the United States, and Oeiras, in Portugal, and also had the pleasure of playing for the first time in the main draw at Roland Garros, where he lost in the opening round with Australian Jason Kubler.

The Heilbronn Challenger is played on clay courts and will award prizes of 145,000 euros.

Argentine tennis players have won eight Challenger tournaments this year, the category next in importance to the ATP tournaments.

Juan Manuel Cerúndolo was crowned champion twice, both times at the facilities of Club Náutico Hacoaj, in the Buenos Aires city of Tigre; Facundo Díaz Acosta lifted the trophy in the aforementioned Savannah, in the United States, and Oeiras, in Portugal; while the other four titles were by Andrea Collarini in Piracicaba, São Paulo, in Brazil; Federico Coria in Concepción, in Chile, Thiago Agustín Tirante in Morelos, in Mexico, and last Sunday Francisco Comesaña in Vicenza, Italy.
