The German KTM rider prevailed yesterday in the notorious Hare Scramble in Styria in 2:31:15 hours, about ten minutes ahead of Brit Billy Bolt (Husqvarna). Austria’s hottest iron, Salzburg’s Michael Walkner, landed in seventh place among just 17 finishers.

Walkner, who drives for GasGas, finished sixth in Lettenbichler’s first prank last year. In 2015, Lettenbichler’s father Andreas won the world’s toughest extreme enduro race.

Professionals and amateurs mingle on the site where ore mining has been suspended for a few days. Former ski star Marcel Hirscher and former combined athlete Lukas Klapfer were also on the starting list. Both and many hundreds of other starters did not reach the top of the mountain. However, Hirscher landed a respectable personal success in qualifying, where he almost reached the front row of the top 50 pilots. The Großraminger Ossi Reisinger, once motocross state champion, drove there to a strong eleventh place.
