The table doesn’t lie, says an old football wisdom. While Bundesliga soccer team LASK finished the past season in third place, the athletes in the “table of a different kind” don’t give a very rosy picture. This ranking is presented by the “kicker union” VdF after each season.
As every year, two professionals from each club were asked seven questions, the evaluation of which is used as a benchmark in domestic professional football. In addition to the question of the appropriate equipment, the punctuality of salary payments, the clarity of the contracts, continued payment of wages in the event of injuries, the exchange of information between management and the team, the image of the club and medical care in the club were surveyed.
In particular, the Linz club only received 4.7 points in the “appropriate equipment” category. LASK also lags behind the competition in other aspects, such as medical care (6.2) or the image of the club (6.9). Masters Salzburg did best with 68.4 out of 70 points. Behind Salzburg in the Bundesliga were Sturm Graz (65.8), Austria Vienna (60.7), Rapid Vienna (60.6), Austria Lustenau (59th), WSG Tirol (58.6), relegated SV Ried (56 ), SCR Altach (54.9), Wolfsberg (52), LASK (51.4), Austria Klagenfurt (49.6) and Hartberg (47.8).
In the second division, FC Liefering is in the lead with 66.6 points, followed by SKN St. Pölten (64.4). Remarkable: While it was not enough for forward Steyr to stay up, the red and white are doing really well in the “table of a different kind” with third place and 61.4 points. Champion Blau-Weiss Linz finished seventh with 57 points.
These categories were queried:
1st question: timeliness of payment of salaries
2. Question: Clarity of the contracts
3. Question: Continued payment of wages in the event of injuries
4. Question: Exchange of information (management and team)
5th question: image of the club
6. Question: Medical care in the association
7. Question: Appropriate equipment
The results:
