The duo did not travel with the DFB selection to the away game this Friday (8.45 p.m. / ARD) in Warsaw, as the DFB announced on Thursday afternoon. For them, the course ended prematurely.
Attacker Werner left the DFB quarters in Frankfurt because of persistent ankle problems. The 27-year-old injured his foot two weeks ago before winning the DFB Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt. In the final he had to be substituted prematurely. Werner had already missed the 3:3 against Ukraine.
Defender Klostermann was substituted on in the 1000th international match last Monday in Bremen. The 27-year-old suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh during the final training session for the Poland game on the DFB campus on Thursday, the association announced. Flick did not nominate any players. The squad still includes 23 players. Next Tuesday, the DFB selection will play against Colombia in Gelsenkirchen.
