Gonzalo Montiel pleaded not guilty in the case of sexual abuse

Prosecutor Luis Brogna, from the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 3 specialized in crimes derived from family violence, gender violence and crimes against sexual integrity, yesterday took an informative statement from the former Club Atlético River Plate soccer player.

Judicial spokesmen informed Télam that Montiel denied before the prosecutor Brogna the fact that the young woman who made the complaint for sexual abuse accused him of.

The world champion soccer player in Qatar provided a series of details at the time of declaring, which will be the subject of an investigation by the prosecutor.

Likewise, from the UFI they indicated in a statement that “at the moment there are not enough elements or vehement indications of the commission of a crime” and that, in addition, “other evidence measures have been arranged that will be carried out in the future.”

For his part, the victim, represented by the lawyer Raquel Hermida Leyenda, ratified the complaint for sexual abuse on March 31.

According to her testimony, the young woman had been invited by Montiel, whom she had seen twice, to a 2019 New Year celebration at the player’s family home in Virrey del Pino.

After a while, the complainant began to feel bad, then she fainted and later woke up at the entrance door to the property, with her clothes wet and out of place.

After losing consciousness again, she woke up in an Uber that took her to her home and after entering her house she found that she had bruises on her crotch and scrapes on her knee and forearm.

Later, he received a WhatsApp message from a woman who claimed to be Montiel’s mother and who told him that she had been raped.
