Darts: Tricky lot for Germany – England in the quarterfinals?

The German darts duo has to face a tricky test in the first knockout duel. After a possible victory on Saturday, the world champion could be waiting directly on the final day.

This lot is tough: The German duo Martin Schindler/Gabriel Clemens does not have to deal with any of the seeded nations at the Darts Team World Championships in Frankfurt am Main. However, round of 16 opponents Poland (Krzysztof Ratajski, Krzysztof Kciuk) are in top form.

The duo set a double record in the ice rink: 118.10 points per shot was more than the previous record held by Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld from the Netherlands since 2014.

On Saturday (around 9.30 p.m. / DAZN) the round of 16 Poland against Germany is scheduled as the last game of the evening session. “It’s not easy playing in front of a home crowd because we want to deliver. We want to show our best and we’re happy that we’ve come through so far,” said Schindler after two clear 4-0 victories over Hong Kong and Japan.

It won’t be any easier if they beat Poland, as the quarter-finals could see a showdown between individual world champion Michael Smith and his English partner Rob Cross. Quarterfinals, semifinals and the final will be played in Frankfurt on Sunday. The top game of the round of 16 is the duel between Belgium and the Netherlands, who have to do without van Gerwen this year. The winner could face defending champions Australia in the quarter-finals.
