After nine years, Javi Martinez ends at Bayern. Now the 32-year-old Spaniard decided to move to the desert.
Midfielder Javi Martinez has found a new club. In a video on Twitter, the long-time professional of FC Bayern Munich revealed that he is moving to the Qatar Sports Club in the Stars League.
Martinez greeted the fans of his new employer in a short message. He is “happy to announce” that he will see them “very, very” soon.
FC Bayern: Javi Martinez moves to Qatar SC on a free transfer
The transfer comes as a surprise, Martinez was recently traded as a newcomer, especially at his ex-club Athletic Bilbao and at clubs from the MLS. The 32-year-old’s contract with FC Bayern is running out and he is now hired for a free transfer at the Doha club.
Martinez isn’t the first big name in Qatar SC history. Previously, Samuel Eto’o, Jay-Jay Okocha and former Bayern professional Ali Karimi played here. Last season the club finished sixth in the table.
Javi Martinez moved from Athletic to FCB in 2012 for a € 40 million transfer fee. With the Munich team, the 2010 world champion won two triple and nine German championships.
