LASK signed goalkeeper veteran Jörg Siebenhandl. The 33-year-old moves from Sturm Graz to Linz on a free transfer and will enrich the young goalkeeper team of the Black and Whites with his experience. The contract runs until 2026. A lot of experience speaks for Siebenhandl: In addition to a whopping 300 Bundesliga appearances, there are also 29 European Cup appearances for Sturm Graz (2017-2022) and Admira (2016).
The access was trained in the talent factory of Wiener Austria, his first professional station was from 2009 to 2014 Wiener Neustadt. After two years at Admira in the southern part of the city, he worked abroad with the Würzburger Kickers in the second German Bundesliga. Siebenhandl has been playing for SK Sturm Graz since the summer of 2017 and, with 224 appearances for the “Blackies”, has become a fixture for the Styrians.
The young goalkeeper team around one-goalie Tobias Lawal (23) will immediately benefit from the routine of the new signing: “Jörg brings a lot of experience that he can pass on to our young goalkeepers. At Sturm Graz he played an important role at a high level for many years – also in international games. We don’t plan with Jörg as number one, but as a mentor who will support the boys in the coming challenges,” explained LASK Managing Director Sport Radovan Vujanovic.
By the way, Siebenhandl will wear jersey number 28.
