The 31-year-old defeated the Italian Erminia Perfetto 1-0 in the final in Bielsko-Biala on Thursday evening. She repeated her European Games gold from 2019, in 2015 she had won silver at the first European Games.
“Perfetto”, meaning perfect, was Plank’s record after her fights on Thursday, as she won the title undefeated. The 2019 final was repeated in the semifinals against Turkey’s Serap Ozcelik Aarapoglu. Back then, Plank had won 5-1. The semi-final was very exciting, because the Vorarlberger was already 0:3 behind against Ozcelik, made the connection to 2:3 shortly before the end and practically in the final second a rating to 5:3. In the group stage, the Austrian beat Marita Depta from Poland 5-1, Kateryna Krywa from Ukraine 4-1 and Iren Kontou from Cyprus 1-0. She was already assured of bronze. Now the first ÖOC medal in these title fights even shines in gold.
Before arriving in Poland, Plank had a mixed season, but over the past few days she has been preparing for the European Games. In her three preliminary round fights, the athlete also seemed very determined.
