STORY: Police officers and environmental officials from the town of Mangaratiba in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro have found and now confirmed several irregularities on the grounds of a villa belonging to soccer star Neymar. On Monday, Mangaratiba’s environmental authority announced that the violations involved included the construction of an artificial lake on the luxury property. This includes the diversion of watercourses as well as unauthorized water abstraction from rivers and earthmoving. Now the Brazilian international has to pay a fine of just over three million euros. A spokesperson for Neymar has so far declined to comment on the matter. In addition to the fine, the case will also be investigated by the local prosecutor’s office, the state civil police and other environmental control agencies. According to the media, Neymar now has 20 days to appeal the penalty.
