The news comes as no surprise. SV Guntamatic Ried and striker Christoph Monschein go their separate ways. The 30-year-old, who was even used in the national team in 2020, moved from LASK to the Innviertel a year ago as a great hope. Monschein was unable to live up to his hopes, scoring just three goals in 25 Bundesliga games. The offensive player, who is associated with league competitor Admira Wacker, among other things, was absent from the training camp in Windischgarsten, as were Markus Lackner and Felix Seiwald.
“We have now found a solution together with Christoph Monschein’s consultant. The contract will be canceled on Thursday,” says Robert Tremel, board member for legal affairs at SV Ried, in an interview with OÖ Nachrichten. When asked whether the club still had to pay the player money for the termination of the contract, Tremel replied: “Yes, you could also call it a ‘negative transfer fee’.”
Tremel hopes that good solutions will also be found in the coming days with Markus Lackner and Felix Seiwald, who the board member describes as “well-deserved players”. Both kickers no longer play a role in coach Maximilian Senft’s plans.
