Sebastian Ofner still needs a win to reach his sixth final this year on the Tennis Challenger Tour. The 27-year-old Styrian, who is ranked 72nd in the world, has secured his place in the semifinals with a hard-fought 4:6, 7:6 (4), 7:5 win over the Bosnian Nerman Fatic (No. 228). qualified for the Salzburg Open.
“It was a very close game, luckily I had the better end for myself,” said Ofner, who will be dealing with Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo for the first time on Saturday (11 a.m., ORF Sport+).
The newly crowned national champion Lukas Neumayer (No. 269) has sensationally reached the semi-finals. The local hero, equipped with a wild card, defeated Thiago Monteiro (Bra/No. 95) 6: 4, 6: 4 and now meets the Slovenian Blaz Rola (No. 723), who Filip Misolic (No. 141) with 6: 3, 6:3 out of the competition. “I feel great,” said Neumayer.
