Coach Jürgen Klopp does not rule out a move to the German Football Association after his contract with the English top club Liverpool has ended.

“The job of national coach is and would be a great honor – there’s no question about that,” said the 56-year-old at a panel discussion of the Fischer group of companies on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the group from Baden-Württemberg. “The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty. I can’t just leave Liverpool now and say I’ll take over Germany for a short time. That doesn’t work and the request isn’t even there.”

Contract until 2026

Klopp’s contract with the six-time Champions League winner is valid until 2026. “If I’m supposed to do that at some point, then I have to be available and I’m not currently. I have a responsibility towards the club,” he said. “Basically, it’s an interesting job. But I don’t know yet whether I’ll do something completely different after I leave Liverpool. I’d like to keep my options open.”

Klopp acts as a brand ambassador for the family business where his father worked for over 30 years. By 2025, the company is aiming for annual sales of 1.5 billion euros. Since Liverpool FC is currently doing a training camp in Donaueschingen, the successful coach visited his old home in the Black Forest.
