A bitter and unnecessary 2-1 defeat in the Upper Austria derby against Vöcklamarkt has been a heavy burden for Union Gurten in the past few days. The Gurtners were the team that set the tone for much of the game, but in the end you were left empty-handed. The game is over, this Friday (7 p.m.) Gurten is away in the Regionalliga Mitte at ASV Allerheiligen. Not only a four-hour journey to Styria awaits the Gurtner, but also an unpleasant opponent.

“Allerheiligen has invested a lot in the squad. I rate them better than last season. If we want to score points, we’ll have to give everything we’ve got,” said Gurten coach Peter Madritsch, who is hoping for more accuracy in front of the opposing goal. The Gurtner missed several top-class chances against Vöcklamarkt. “I’m hoping for more efficiency,” says Madritsch. The Young Vikings, who were downed 5-0 by Deutschlandsberger AC in their home Innviertel Arena on Saturday, have completely different concerns. Today, coach Hubert Zauner’s team is making a guest appearance in Bad Gleichenberg at 7 p.m. The second team of SV Ried goes into the game as a clear outsider after the season opener with two defeats. “We have to improve, that’s clear,” says Zauner.
