That would be a real transfer coup for 1. FC Union. An expert from Italy reports on the practically perfect move from the national player to the Berlin Bundesliga club.
According to information from Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, national soccer player Robin Gosens will switch from Inter Milan to 1. FC Union Berlin.
15 million fee
According to this, the clubs are said to have already agreed on a transfer fee totaling 15 million euros, as Romano reported on the online platform X. Neither Inter nor Union confirmed the change or negotiations.
A possible transfer of the left-back to the Irons had already been reported in June. The 29-year-old was then considered a hot candidate at VfL Wolfsburg. Gosens would be a record transfer for Union. The Berliners, who qualified for the Champions League for the first time, have not yet signed a current German international.
Bundesliga for the first time
Gosens has never played in the Bundesliga in his unusual career. In 2017, the Rhinelander switched from Heracles Almelo in the Netherlands to Atalanta Bergamo. A boost in performance followed in Serie A, which led him to the national team and also to Inter. In the end, however, he was only a supplementary player there – including in the Champions League final, which he lost to Manchester City (0-1) at the end of May.
A move to Union would certainly bring more playing time and increase the chances of a European Championship participation for the 16-time national player. Gosens fits perfectly into coach Urs Fischer’s 3-3-2-2 system. Union is still looking for reinforcements for the defensive left flank. On this side, the Berliners currently only have Jérôme Roussillon in the squad.
