Arnautovic’s move to Inter is fixed: ‘I’m glad to be back’

After 13 years, Marko Arnautovic returns to Inter Milan. After passing the medical check, the 19-time Italian champion announced the commitment. Contrary to what was previously rumored, the 34-year-old is initially on loan from Bologna to the “Nerazzuri”, who secured a purchase option. According to the Champions League finalist, if certain sporting factors occur, the ÖFB record scorer will be obliged to buy. The transfer fee next summer is said to have been set at ten million euros.

“I’m happy to be back,” said Arnautovic after the transfer announcement. In his first guest appearance in 2009/10, he was a supporting actor for a year: on the way to the then Champions League triumph and the cup victory under coach Jose Mourinho, he didn’t play a minute, he only contributed 55 minutes to the championship title. Arnautovic: “I was hotheaded, but now I’ve grown up.”

Even before the transfer was announced, the 108-time ÖFB team player had trained with his new colleagues. He should make his comeback for Inter on Saturday against Monza.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is said to have campaigned heavily for the signing after Milan lost two notable strikers in the summer in Bosnia-Herzegovina striker Edin Dzeko and Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku, who returned to Chelsea from a loan deal. So far, only Frenchman Marcus Thuram has come as a free transfer from Mönchengladbach. In addition to the seeded world champion Lautaro Martinez, his Argentinian compatriot Joaquin Correa is also available, but he has not yet been able to convince at Inter.
