Pep Guardiola wins the UEFA Super Cup with Manchester City on penalties. The decorated club had never won the title before. But the collection is not complete.
After winning the UEFA Super Cup for the first time, Pep Guardiola is now aiming for the last missing trophy with Manchester City.
“We still need one to close the circle and win all the titles that are possible for this club. That will happen in December when we go to Saudi Arabia and play the Club World Cup,” said the star coach after the match 5: 4 (1: 1, 0: 1) on penalties in Piraeus against FC Sevilla.
“We are very, very happy to have won a title already this season. Very happy for the club. We haven’t had that title before and now we have it,” said Guardiola. He had won the treble of championship, national cup and premier class with the Cityzens last season.
Youssef En-Nesyri (25′) scored in Piraeus in regular time for the Spanish record winner of the small European football cup, Cole Palmer (63′) equalized for Manchester. There was no extension.
