Is Benjamin Pavard going or not going? The FC Bayern Munich defender will probably switch to Inter Milan. The transfer should still depend on one thing.
FC Bayern has allegedly reached an agreement with Inter Milan in exchange poker for Benjamin Pavard. As the French sports daily “L’Équipe” reported, Munich have accepted a second offer from the Italians for the French national soccer player.
The German record champion is to receive a fixed fee of 28 million euros plus five million euros in bonuses. The usually well-informed Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also spoke of a fundamental agreement between the two clubs. Sources were not named.
The people of Munich should definitely want to sign a replacement before leaving Pavard, as the “Bild” wrote. FC Bayern had recently lent defensive all-rounder Josip Stanisic to Bayer Leverkusen.
The “Gazzetta dello Sport” had previously reported that Inter agreed with defender Pavard, who was tied to FC Bayern until the summer of 2024. If all goes according to plan for Milan, he could be due for medical checks as early as mid-week. Pavard is set to sign a five-year contract. The newspaper did not name a source. The Italians signed goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Munich this summer.
World champion came from VfB Stuttgart
“Pavard wants to leave, he has clearly stated that, otherwise he will be free next year,” said DFB record international Lothar Matthäus at a media interview. “I do believe that Pavard will no longer be a player at FC Bayern next year.”
Pavard was recently associated in particular with a farewell to Manchester United. The 2018 world champion switched from VfB Stuttgart to the Isar in 2019 for around 35 million euros. Pavard is mainly used as a right-back in Munich, but he prefers to see himself in central defence.
