Because of the corona pandemic, the Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place without an audience. During the opening ceremony in ten days (July 23, 1 p.m. German time), the athletes from all over the world are supposed to present themselves in front of the TV cameras. And another special feature: for the first time, the German contingent will be led by a flag-bearer couple.
In addition to the athletes from Team Germany, the Olympic enthusiasts throughout the country should also have a say in who that will be. The German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB). You can cast your votes for one woman and one man there up to and including July 18th.

Ten athletes were selected, including well-known names such as tennis ace Angelique Kerber, world-class dressage rider Isabell Werth and top diver Patrick Hausding. They were selected on the basis of their previous successes and because they stand for fair and manipulation-free competitive sport. In addition, several sports should be represented.
