He also highlighted that under the hashtag #DiegoEterno “thousands of users from different social networks also published messages of recognition, nostalgia and love for the emblem and star.”

Maradona spent his last years in Argentina, where he directed Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata until his death.

“Her figure, emblematic and immaculate, always inspires and is the beacon that illuminates this wonderful game that all Argentines embrace. Her memory remains intact and will remain forever,” added AFA in its tribute to one of the most important soccer players in the entire history and who, until the appearance of Lionel Messi, was the absolute idol of the country.

Maradona died at the age of 60 at his home in Dique Luján, in Tigre, after a cardiac decompensation due to pulmonary edema.

A few days before the fateful event, he had been hospitalized for a picture of anemia and depression and underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma on his head, in addition to the complications caused by a gastric bypass that was performed in 2005, for which he underwent surgery in 2019. .
