BUDAPEST. Coach Wolfgang Adler said of Susanne Gogl-Walli that she had a lot of respect for the big names over the 200 meters. But there was nothing to be seen from the woman from Linz in the run-up to the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest:
On the branch line of none other than the Jamaican title holder Shericka Jackson, the 27-year-old drummed down her branch line in 23.38 seconds.
A time that the athlete of the TGW Zehnkampf-Union classified as “very solid”, after all, she already had the 400-meter competition in her legs, in which she had achieved the best World Championship result of her career with 18th place on Monday. Her speed hardness from the whole stadium round threw her over 200 meters into the balance.
“I tried to exploit my 400-meter qualities, I’m still over two opponents,” said Gogl-Walli, who crossed the finish line in fifth place in her heat. There wasn’t anything else inside. “I have to be honest, I didn’t have the freshest legs today. Of course, the two 400s were noticeable, but that was clear from the start,” said the 400-meter specialist, who absolutely wanted to take the World Cup experience on the feeder route with her.
For Gogl-Walli, the season with the world championship is not over yet: It has been confirmed that she will compete in the Diamond League in Zurich on August 31 with the Austrian relay. She is also hoping for a place in the 400 in the pre-event program at Letzigrund.
