Former national soccer player Jérôme Boateng has to appear in court in September. The former Bayern star is accused of willful bodily harm.
Ex-international Jérôme Boateng, 32, has to appear before the local court in September on charges of bodily harm. The trial was scheduled to start on September 9, as court spokesman Klaus-Peter Jüngst announced on Tuesday. No further negotiations were initially planned. Accordingly, the judgment could also be made on the same day.
The public prosecutor’s office accuses the former Bayern star and 2014 world champion of willful bodily harm. He is said to have injured his ex-girlfriend during an argument on vacation. Among other things, it should be about a video that was submitted to his discharge.
Original court date postponed
Boateng’s side did not issue a statement when the trial date became known in October 2020. According to reports from WDR and “Süddeutscher Zeitung” from last year, the defense attorneys had stated at the time that the issue was a private matter that was essentially based on unproven claims by third parties.
The original court date in December last year had been postponed because a witness was “prevented from appearing due to corona,” according to the court.
According to the court, there is a fine or imprisonment of up to five years for willful bodily harm. Central defender Boateng has played for FC Bayern since 2011. His contract in Munich expired at the end of June this year.
