As a club that has been relegated to the Bundesliga and is in a good position, SV Guntamatic Ried is one of the top players in the second division – but the Innviertlers are worlds apart from today’s away opponents Liefering (Red Bull Arena, 6:10 p.m.) financially: serial champions Salzburg only invested millions again in the summer in the next “stars of tomorrow”, who should take the next step at the cooperation club in the second division. The Bulls shelled out around four million euros for Italian neo-striker Nicolo Turco from Juventus U19s. “We also dealt with him. But only if we had stayed in the Bundesliga. And even a loan would have been very difficult,” reveals Ried’s sporting director Wolfgang Fiala.
The young Italian team player should join a prominent striker selection: Karim Konate (arrived in 2022 for 3.5 million euros), Benjamin Sesko (2019, 2.5 million), Roko Simic (2021, 4 million) or Karim Adeyemi (2018 for 3.3 million) took the first steps in the adult sector among the young bulls. Turco was injured in the 2-1 draw against Horn – and will probably miss against Ried today. Certainly not a disadvantage.
High five-figure sum for Eza
In addition to Turco, Salzburg made further transfers of millions for Düsseldorf’s Elione Fernandes-Neto (3 million), Douglas Mendes (from partner club RB Bragantino) and Leandro Morgalla (1860 Munich, 2 million each) in the summer – and thus paid a total of eleven million euros to fee only for the second team. For comparison: The Rieder player budget this season is just under a fifth of this amount – at 2.2 million euros.
Ried’s last summer transfer seems to be cheap right away – but it’s so important: For the desired striker Wilfried Eza, the Innviertler paid a fee in the high five-digit range. Everything is clear with the player and the club – the 26-year-old said goodbye to his team-mates after the most recent league game of the Armenian first division club FC Ararat-Armenia. It’s all about the work permit.
