37 minutes of numerical superiority including stoppage time were not enough in SV Guntamatic Ried’s 1-1 (0-1) away win against Liefering to get the second win in a row. Before the eyes of team boss Ralf Rangnick, however, the necessary fire was only there after the break – even if the superiority did not result in enough convincing chances to score until the end.
After a good start, Ried wasn’t aggressive enough. However, the few chances were great. At the beginning, Mark Grosse missed alone in front of Liefering’s strong goalkeeper Krumrey, then youngster Ben Wörndl was able to think too long during his solo on the opposing goal and missed. In between, the Lieferingers had taken the lead from their first chance. Ried’s David Ungar unluckily deflected a cross from Schablas, so the ball came to Mohammad Sadequi, who hit the free-standing right corner (25′). Shortly afterwards, Ried was lucky when Verhouning missed the Rieder goal by just centimeters when he had his chance. After the break, the Innviertlers came out of the dressing room more aggressively and quickly had their first chances through Grosse and Wörndl. What was more important, however, was that 17-year-old John Mellberg, who had already received a yellow card, went into the duel with Nik Marinsek far too impetuously – and was sent off with a yellow card (58′). After that, the Innviertler constricted the opponent, who had played an additional game on Tuesday.
Nik Marinsek’s 1:1 after a positional mistake by Lieferinger was the liberation (81st). However, they couldn’t get any further because Liefering’s keeper Krumrey saved against Bumberger (83′) and Schmerböck (88′). The Innviertler remain in the lower half of the table.
