The Maxibasket World Cup, which has the participation of 4,500 athletes from 35 countries, began today in Mar del Plata with free admission.
The event, which will end on September 3, takes place at the “Islas Malvinas” Sports Center Stadium; the Neighborhood Sports Centers and fields of different local clubs, as well as the cities of Santa Clara del Mar (Mar Chiquita party) and Miramar (General Alvarado party).
The main senior basketball figures met in the city starting today to play the 16th edition of the FIMBA World Cup (International Maxibasket Federation).
The tournament returned to Argentina after 32 years with 280 participating teams between men and women in categories from +30 to +80 years.
The activity will take place between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the “Islas Malvinas” Sports Center Stadium (which will be the main stage), in addition to the Neighborhood Sports Centers (Centenario, Libertad, Las Heras and Colinas) and the fields of Alvarado, Atlético Mar del Plata, Ciromar, AGP, Center for Ex-Combatants, Las Lomas and Banco Provincia.
And in addition to Miramar and Santa Clara del Mar, the two courts of the historic CEF No. 1 that will remain active for basketball practice once the World Cup ends were recovered.
Attendees will be able to enjoy the presence of prominent former professional and amateur players as well as have access to a wide gastronomic offer, since a dozen food trucks on each stage.
