In a test game before the new NFL season, a Miami Dolphins pro was injured so badly that he was immediately hospitalized. The game was canceled.
For an eternity, the ranks of the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium went into shock. Miami Dolphins’ Daewood Davis lay face to the ground for minutes after a violent collision in Saturday’s game against the hosts. His opponent Dequan Jackson received a penalty for being too harsh on the scene. Davis was stabilized on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
According to the Dolphins, he was responsive and could move all his limbs. The game was stopped at 31:18 for the Jaguars with 8:32 minutes remaining in the final quarter.

Second abandonment of an NFL test game
Just last week, the New England Patriots’ preseason game against the Green Bay Packers was canceled in the final quarter after Isaiah Bolden collided with a teammate. He too had to be taken from the field and taken to a hospital, but was released the next day.
Injury sensitivity seems to have increased in the NFL after last season’s debates. Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered two severe concussions in 2022, while Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin was in mortal danger after suffering a cardiac arrest in the playoffs. The Cincinnati Bengals pro has recovered and made his first appearance in his team’s pre-season games since the incident.
