Criminal proceedings against Mendy for four rapes had already been initiated in August. Now there are two more cases.
The French international Benjamin Mendy was charged with two further rapes in England on Tuesday. The public prosecutor announced. The 27-year-old is due to appear in court in Stockport near Manchester on Wednesday.
Mendy are now charged with six cases of rape and another sexual assault by four plaintiffs. The incidents are said to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021, one of the alleged victims was a minor.
Manchester City suspended Mendy in August
In addition to Mendy, a second man, Louis Saha Matturie, has been charged with two other cases of rape and one case of sexual assault. The men had already stood before Chester Crown Court on September 10th, where they had been told that they would be on trial on January 24th next year. Both were subsequently taken into custody.
Mendy was from his club Manchester City. His contract with team manager Pep Guardiola’s club is still running for almost two years. The left-back played his last international match in November 2019.
