The new season in the Upper Austrian football lower house has only just kicked off – and again amateur football is in the negative headlines. During the game in the 2nd class south between TSV Timelkam and SPG Grünau/Pettenbach 1c (1:1) there was an unpleasant incident last weekend.

What happened? Guest kickers Furkan Ü burned after a foul game. In the 86th minute, the fuses went through: “He went through two players and was fouled. Then he kicked his foot and a pack formed,” says Grünau’s sports director Christian Pramhas. There were also punches, as a video that the OÖN shows proves. Pramhas: “Something like this must not happen to my player. There will be internal consequences.”

During today’s training, the incident should be worked up again: “I train a junior team myself in our club. I always explain to the children that you have to behave fairly and that if the referee blows the whistle, then so be it. That’s what I demand also from the adults. Such scenes must not be repeated under any circumstances.”

Long ban for offenders

Jürgen Seifriedsberger, Head of Sports at Timelkam, sees it similarly: “I don’t know what’s going on in this player at a moment like that. Football isn’t fun like that.”

Seifriedsberger also wonders why there was no termination: “Several players were involved in the formation of the pack, not just the player excluded because of the assault. For me it would have been a clear termination.”

According to the home official, referee Markus Spiessberger also played his part: “The referee let certain things go during the game, which made it more and more heated.” Grünau sports director Pramhas: “As a referee in the 2nd class you are generally a poor guy. Maybe he should have taken action earlier.”

Referee Spiessberger was not available for a statement from OÖN – but since he kicked off the game again, the 1:1 point split remains. Only Grünau’s culprits will go into extra time: the penalty committee of the Upper Austrian Football Association will probably pronounce a longer ban.
