HC Linz AG started the handball championship on Saturday with a 29:27 (14:13) against newly promoted Hollabrunn. Coach Milan Vunjak spoke of the expected difficult game against an opponent inspired by euphoria. The Slovenian was not entirely satisfied with the performance of his own team. “It wasn’t a great game from us, but we can live with the win and two points,” said Vunjak, whose team is struggling with the big upheaval.
Despite the serious departures, the newcomers already know how to please – above all Mislav Grgic. The Croatian was the best Linz thrower in Hollabrunn with nine goals, which the backfield player had already been in the narrow Supercup defeat against Hard (8).
The 25-year-old came to Linz from the German second division club Dormagen in the summer, where he immediately impressed with his offensive power. “He’s a player who can be used in many ways,” Vunjak also alludes to the defensive qualities of his newcomer. Linz starts the season in third place, the Fivers lead after a 30:21 over Bärnbach.
