After the embarrassment, national coach Flick is under pressure. For now, things should continue as normal for the national team.
As planned, Hansi Flick is scheduled to lead the national soccer team’s public training session on the VfL Wolfsburg grounds on Sunday morning. The DFB confirmed this the morning after the violent 1:4 against Japan at the start of the European Championship season.
The session in front of around 3,500 spectators who had secured free tickets is primarily for the players who were only substituted on Saturday evening or did not play at all.
The DFB selection will meet World Cup runners-up France on Tuesday (9 p.m./ARD) in Dortmund. After the Japan shock, DFB sports director Rudi Völler said about possible consequences that it would be “good” to “calm down” first and let a night pass.
