As has only now become known, Hermann Maier became a savior in distress almost a week ago while filming the ORF documentary series Universum in the Grinzling Nature Park:
The former ski star and the film crew were surprised by a storm. A mudslide blocked the road back, so they had to leave the car behind and walk.
The 50-year-old brought an eight-year-old girl and her dog safely to the valley. Willi Seifert, managing director of the national park, spoke to the Swiss newspaper “20 Minuten”: “While we were being shown disaster videos from the central Zillertal at the hut, Hermann Maier, soaking wet, was leading Celine (Seifert’s daughter; note) and my dog through the most difficult passages the one-hour march.”
Seifert was appropriately grateful to the “Herminator”: “He’s a great person. Without any airs, helpful and athletically fit.”
