Bayern veteran Thomas Müller is still not coach Thomas Tuchel’s first choice for the German football champions’ Champions League games.
The 34-year-old attacker is not part of the Munich starting eleven in the opening Group A game against Manchester United. Tuchel is making one change compared to the 2-2 draw in the top Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen – and it affects Müller, for whom Jamal Musiala is moving into the starting line-up.
In the first two premier class games with Tuchel as coach, Müller was also a reserve twice last season in the lost quarter-final against eventual title winners Manchester City and was only substituted on.
Musiala played for the first time again after tearing a muscle fiber in his thigh against Leverkusen. The national player came on as a substitute in the second half. Tuchel announced on Tuesday that the 20-year-old would be ready to start again against Manchester United.
