LASK had to admit defeat to Liverpool FC in the first Europa League group game despite leading with 1:3 (1:0).
In front of a sold-out house on the Gugl, the Linzers presented themselves without awe against the English star ensemble, in which some top stars were spared, and even took the lead: Florian Flecker pulled a corner in the 14th minute that was unstoppable for goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher off – a dream goal.

After the break, however, the guests turned up the heat and equalized 1-1 from the penalty spot through Darwin Nunez (56th). Philipp Ziereis fouled Stefan Bajcetic. Just seven minutes later, Luis Diaz gave LASK goalkeeper Tobias Lawal no chance after a cross from Harvey Elliott from close range to make it 2-1. Substitute Mo Salah put the proverbial lid on the game, scoring the final score in the 88th minute.
LASK’s next opponent in the Europa League is Toulouse (October 5th away).
