Regarding the team that won in Treviso, the Argentine coach Mario Ledesma will introduce three changes in the starting team against XV del Trébol: recovered from a knee discomfort, second row Guido Petti will rejoin, while in the third row he will be Santiago Grondona, Pablo Matera being positioned as No. 8 and Lucio Cinti will debut as ‘wing’.
The victims will be Juan Martín González, Facundo Isa and Santiago Cordero, respectively.
Petti’s return will also mean Kremer’s return to the third row, after having played against Italy in No. 4.
The one in Dublin will be the 82nd international match for Tomás Cubello and the 80th for Pablo Matera, both already in the Top-10 of the Pumas with the most official matches, approaching Nicolás Sánchez’s record of 92.
“I think it has been a long, hard and intense year and since mid-July we have all been away from home for 16 weeks, so what we want to do is go out to that full stadium and do what we have been training and preparing”said Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe, Ledesma’s assistant.
“Winning would be fantastic and well deserved for these players who give it their all.”he added.
Leinster second row James Ryan will replace the injured Jonathan Sexton in the role of captain of the XV of Clover although his position as starter will be occupied by Joey Carbery, author of 9 points with the foot against the All Blacks.
Additionally, scrum half Jamison Gibson-Park, who was also injured in his thigh, will be replaced by Conor Murray.
Coach Andy Farrell will introduce two more changes to the backs with Robert Baloucoune and Robbie Henshaw taking the place of Andrew Conway and Bundee Aki. Instead, the English coach maintains confidence in the ‘forwards’ with whom he played against the New Zealanders.
“Argentina is always a dangerous team”said coach Farrell. “We have to be aware that they beat the best team in the world (the All Blacks last year) and that they beat us in the past in important matches.”
“Also, they have never won in Dublin and that should stimulate them,” warned the coach.
Although Argentina never prevailed in Ireland, both combined have played 23 times (since 1952), with Los Pumas 8 wins, one draw and 14 losses, the last two in 2017 and 2018 in Dublin.
The last Argentine victory came in the quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup, with a 43-20 result for the South Americans in a match played in Cardiff.
