Etcheverry, born in La Plata and ranked 35th in the ATP world ranking, beat Svrcina (167) after an hour and a half of play.

The 24-year-old from La Plata will play his next match against the American Sebastián Korda (33), who defeated the Frenchman Alexandre Muller (84) 6-1, 2-6 and 6-3.
The Argentine played Korda only once, this year at the Canadian Masters 1000 played in Toronto, and lost in straight sets 6-3 and 6-2 in an opening round match.
The Zhuhai ATP 250 is played on cement surface courts, will distribute prizes of $1,057,295 and has the Russian Karen Khachanov (15) as the top favorite for the title, who reached the quarterfinals after beating the Australian Alex Bolt (323) by 6-4 and 6-4, and will play his next match against the American Mackenzie Mc Donald (39).
