According to Italian media reports, Marko Arnautovic is threatened with a two-month break. The Inter Milan striker had to leave the pitch injured in the final minutes of the 1-0 win at Empoli on Sunday. The “Gazzetta dello Sport” fears a “serious muscle injury” in the left thigh, as the sports daily wrote on Monday. Arnautovic left the stadium on crutches and with a worried expression.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the player will be out for at least two months. An even longer break cannot be ruled out. According to media reports, the 34-year-old will undergo medical checks on Monday afternoon. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was worried. “We’re going to lose Arnautovic for a while,” Inzaghi said after the match.

Inter played with ten men against bottom-placed Empoli on Sunday. Federico Dimarco scored the goal for Milan with a long-range shot in the 51st minute. This means that the “Nerazzurri”, coached by Simone Inzaghi, are still at the top of the table after the fifth round with the maximum number of points. City rivals Milan follow three points behind.

Arnautovic will most likely miss Austria’s European Championship qualifiers in October. The ÖFB team will face Belgium in Vienna on October 13th, and three days later they will face Azerbaijan in Baku.
