“I am speechless, very grateful to God. It is a dream night for me. At the beginning I said it was going to be my night”shared Dionicius, who was confirmed as Acuña’s rival for the past week.

The 33-year-old “Gurisa”, a former IBF super flyweight champion, assumed her 35th. He fights as a professional and raised his record to 32 wins (6 KOs) and three setbacks. It was the second time she emerged victorious from Luna, where she had defended her former points title against Colombian Olga Julio on September 7, 2013.
The clash for the interim featherweight belt was the one with the least explosion in a program that had all its preliminary crossings defined by the fast track.
Much study and few free blows was the constant of a fight that was consumed in an atmosphere of tense silence in the stands, waiting for a shocking hand that never materialized.
The “Tigress” always occupied the center of the ring, had positional control but Dionicius was able to take the actions to the most convenient terrain. The “Gurisa”, of less physical build, played and left, without giving the distance to the Formoseña.

The entrerriana Débora Dionicius ended the undefeated Marcela “Tigresa” Acuña from Formosa at Luna Park and was crowned interim featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), by beating her on points with a unanimous ruling in the star fight of the evening. “The legend continues”, which meant the return of the activity to the mythical Buenos Aires scene.

Few times they got involved in an exchange of blows and only in the seventh round Acuña was able to connect a clean right well assimilated by the Entre Ríos, who with the running of the rounds left a better impression by complying with his fight plan.
Acuña did not look satisfied with the development and once the ruling was ruled, he acknowledged that he did not have the dream return to Luna Park, where he had won in his seven previous presentations since 2003.
“The Tigress wasn’t there tonight, she was cooking”said with humor the former world champion super bantamweight, current participant of the Masterchef program. “The only thing that I rescue from all this is that we gave ourselves to the maximum, we had a great fight. Débora was better and I couldn’t touch her”, I agree.
Acuña, 45, the first female boxing license in the country, made her second presentation of the year almost two months after her victory against Natalia Alderete by points -unanimous- in a six-round fight held in Entre Ríos, which marked his return to the ring since May 2019.
The loss to Dionicius left his professional record at 50 wins (20 KOs), 8 losses and 2 draws. In the Luna it was her first setback after defeating the Panamanian Damaris Pinnock Ortega (TKO 6), the Colombian Daysi Padilla (TKO 1) and Paola Herrera (TKO 1), the Canadian Danielle Bouchard (victory UD 10), to his compatriot Alejandra “Locomotora” Oliveras (UD 10), the Mexican Jackie Nava (UD 10) and the Jamaican Alicia Ashley (DM 10).
Dionicius was credited with the right to face Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano, current WBO regular monarch of the division, as ordered by the entity itself.
Serrano has planned a non-title fight in the light category against the Spanish Miriam Gutiérrez, on December 18 in Tampa, Florida, United States, and if he decides to return to the featherweight division he will have to unify the scepter with the “Gurisa” of Villaguay .
