Alexander Zverev is the clear favorite in the final of the tennis tournament in Chengdu. The Hamburger doesn’t show his best tennis.
Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev celebrated his 21st title on the ATP tour.
The 26-year-old from Hamburg narrowly won the final in Chengdu, China, against Russian outsider Roman Safiullin 6:7 (2:7), 7:6 (7:5), 6:3. After a set and a subsequent break deficit and around three hours of playing time, Zverev secured his second tournament victory in his comeback year after his serious foot injury last summer. Almost two months earlier, he had achieved the title premiere in his hometown of Hamburg.
He will continue in the coming days at the tournament in Beijing, which begins on Thursday. The Argentinian Diego Schwartzman was drawn as his first opponent.
