“It’s about the team. It’s about the players getting to know each other better outside of the ice rink. And about them becoming a close-knit unit,” says club president Peter Nader. “We have nothing comparable”
The players themselves are already starting to rave. The import players are particularly fond of this Central European custom. “I love this outfit. The leather pants are still a bit tight, but I’ve heard that it gets better with time. Unfortunately, we don’t have anything comparable,” says French-Canadian Shawn St-Amant. It’s no different in western Canada, as Brodi Stuart confirms: “We don’t have anything like traditional clothing. Only on Canada Day do we wear clothes in the national colors. A visit to the original Oktoberfest in Munich would appeal to both St-Amant and Stuart. But the schedule is too crowded in September and October. “One day isn’t enough. You have to think about the day after,” says St-Amant, “but this (Urfahranermarkt, note) is just as good. It’s the Linz Oktoberfest.”

Gaffal was there, Kristler was missing
A surprise guest was Stefan Gaffal. The striker, who was hit by a shot a week ago on Sunday and suffered a head fracture, met his teammates again for the first time, who greeted him with applause and a few hugs.
Andreas Kristler wasn’t there – for good reason: the 33-year-old became a dad for the first time on Wednesday morning. Mother and child are fine.

Oktoberfest home game against Graz
As President Peter Nader announced, the Black Wings will need the Lederhosen again all too soon. Because the home game against Graz on Wednesday, October 25th will be the Oktoberfest home game.
