The timetable for Julian Nagelsmann as national coach is now set until the end of the year. The last vacant date in 2023 will take place in Berlin, with a test against Turkey.

Julian Nagelsmann celebrates his home debut as national coach in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. As the German Football Association announced, the national team will play a friendly international match against Turkey on November 18th (8:45 p.m./RTL) in the European Championship final arena in the capital.

This completes the annual plan for the DFB selection. Nagelsmann’s debut as DFB head coach and successor to Hansi Flick will take place on October 14th (9 p.m./RTL) in Hartford against the USA. Three days later, the second test game of the American trip will take place in Philadelphia against Mexico (2 a.m.). Nagelsmann will announce his squad for these games on Friday morning.

After the duel against Turkey, there was a test match on November 21st (8:45 p.m.) in Vienna against Austria to round off the year in preparation for the European Championship. The European Championship groups will be drawn in Hamburg on December 2nd (6 p.m.). Germany is set to host as head of Group A with games in Munich (June 14), Stuttgart (June 19) and Frankfurt (June 23).

The DFB team last played 3-3 against Turkey in a friendly in Cologne in 2020 under Joachim Löw as national coach. In 2011 there was a 3-0 win in Berlin. Afterwards, a visit to the cabin by then Chancellor Angela Merkel and a photo of her with Mesut Özil, who was bare-chested, sparked discussions. The former German junior coach Stefan Kuntz was recently on leave as Turkey’s national coach. Löw was considered a possible successor, but Vincenzo Montella got the job.
