The SV Guntamatic Ried kickers probably have the easiest task on their hands with today’s game in the 2nd football league near Amstetten (6.10 p.m.): Coach Maximilian Senft’s team is playing at the bottom of the second division.
His club will be playing an even more important – and probably more exciting – match than today off the pitch in the coming days: a new board will be elected at the general meeting on Tuesday. Roland Daxl announced his resignation as president after relegation from the Bundesliga – it will stay that way. “I’m pleased that I can hand over the club on a solid foundation. I won’t be on any nominations,” the 49-year-old told OÖN.
The club is keeping a veil of silence about who will be his successor. This secret will be revealed on Tuesday. But what seems certain is that the duo are not competing against each other – both should compete on one list. However, this is probably not realistic – rather, it looks like there will be no big earthquake, at least in terms of personnel, and only the roles will be swapped. In addition to Daxl, only about Karl Wagner resign from the board. “We have steered a lot of things in the right direction and are not going in the wrong direction. The new board will build on the positive things of the past. We want to lead the club into a positive future,” says current president Gahleitner.
The club will also continue to be able to count on Daxl’s expertise: an economic advisory board is to be founded, of which the Grieskirchen native will be a member. Another well-known name that is also frequently discussed: Oberbank CEO Franz Gasselsberger.
