With just four games played in the Inter Miami, Lionel Messi was nominated today for the award MVPas the 2023 most valuable player of the Major League Soccer (MLS) league of the USA and shares the shortlist with five Argentines.
The captain of the national team was included in the list of 30 nominees to win the MVP award, which the MLS announced on its official website.
In his four appearances, Messi added an assist and scored a goal.
On the same roster, there are four outstanding Argentines: Luciano Acosta (Cincinnati), Thiago Almada (Atlanta United), Julian Carranza (Philadelphia), Cristian Espinoza (San Jose Earthquakes) and Emanuel “Bebelo” Reynoso (Minnesota).
In addition, the former PSG player is also nominated for the revelation award, which highlights the “newcomer” after making his MLS debut in 2023.
Voting to select the new winners will open on October 10 and close on October 23, and will include the participation of players, coaches, managers and journalists.

Who are the Argentines nominated for the MLS awards?
Furthermore, in the category of best defender, the Argentines appear Claudio Bravo and Franco Escobar. This last brand new winner of the US Open Cup with Houston Dynamo that beat Inter Miami.
On the other hand, in the best young player category there is again Thiago Almada, who has already won three awards in previous editions, Facundo Farías and Alan Velasco.
A no less minor detail is that the Argentines appear as nominees in the shortlist of coaches. Gerardo Martino, from Inter Miami; and Hernan Losadacurrent coach of CF Montreal.
