Rosario, October 6 (NA) — Rosario Central won 1-0 against Huracán at home, in the match that began the eighth round of the Professional League Cup, and keeps alive its goal of entering the Cup Next year’s Libertadores.
Colombian Jaminton Campaz scored the only goal of the match, 42 minutes into the first half.
With this result, Rosario Central accumulates 11 points, is in seventh position in Zone A and was one step away from qualifying to compete in Libertadores 2024, while Huracán was left with 13 points in third position and lost the chance to take off from the lower area.
In an entertaining first half, the local team started more orderly and after 5 minutes, they had their first approach with Maximiliano Lovera but his shot went high. Minutes later he warned Huracán with a header from Walter Mazzantti and it was deflected by Jorge Broun.
Before going to break, Campaz played with Tomás O’Connor on the left, who returned the wall, pushed it over Lucas Chaves and opened the scoring.
In the complement, the game was very even where neither team had depth. Towards the end the match intensified and Lucas Carrizo was sent off for elbowing Fabricio Oviedo and immediately afterwards Fernando Rapallini showed the red card to coach Diego Martínez.
On the ninth day, which will be played after the double date of the South American Qualifiers, Rosario Central will visit Vélez on Thursday the 19th from 8:45 p.m. and Huracán will host Instituto on Friday the 20th from 7 p.m.
