MT Melsungen’s winning streak in the handball Bundesliga was stopped by the previous bottom team, Bergischer HC. After seven previous successes, the North Hesse team suffered their first defeat of the season at 31:32 (18:15) and had to hand over the lead of the table to Füchse Berlin.
Foxes with eight wins
The capital club won at HC Erlangen with 35:27 (18:12) and is the only team with a clean slate with 16:0 points. Behind them are Melsungen with 14:2 points and SC Magdeburg (13:3). The Champions League winner beat Frisch Auf Göppingen 27:26 (13:12). In addition to the strong goalkeeper Nikola Portner, backcourt player Michael Damgaard also impressed at the SCM as the best shooter with seven goals.
Melsungen had the game at Bergischer HC well under control in the first half, but lost control after the substitution. Mads Kjeldgaard Andersen scored a free throw for the BHC at the end of the game. “That hurts brutally. We would have liked to extend the winning streak and are of course annoyed. The Füchse Berlin, on the other hand, had no trouble winning in Erlangen. Four days after the narrow cup victory in extra time, the decision for the new edition had already been made at halftime. The best Berlin throwers were Mijajlo Marsenic and Mathias Gidsel with six goals each.
The guests were initially behind 3:6. Thanks to a 7-0 run, they took the lead, which coach Jaron Siewert’s team never relinquished. Although some regular players were rested in the second half, the victory was never in danger.
