Martín Rolón, coach of Talleres de Remedios de Escalada, anticipated the great final duel of Primera B against San Miguel for promotion to Primera Nacional and considered that “we arrived with different nuances, but with shared merits.”
The 40-year-old coach told Télam that “it will be a final of one hundred and eighty very hard minutes, we know that we are facing a highly ranked rival who had a very even and regular run throughout the entire season.”
Talleres will host San Miguel this Monday from 5:45 p.m. at its Pablo Comelli stadium in Remedios de Escalada, while the rematch will be played on Sunday the 29th at Los Polvorines.
The accumulated table for the 2023 cycle marked a slight advantage of two points in favor (60 to 58) of “Trueno Verde”, which won the Apertura tournament, while the team from the south of Buenos Aires won the Clausura. This advantage will allow San Miguel the possibility of closing the key in his house in Los Polvorines.
“One sought to close the local story, especially so that people have the possibility of attending the definition as eyewitnesses, but I think that ultimately it does not influence much because the only advantage would be that of playing for half an hour, that of a supposed extend, more local than us,” added the young red-faced coach.
Regarding the merits that each team added to reach this final stage, Rolón stated that “we arrived with different nuances, but with shared merits.”
It should be noted that Talleres is a team with a solid defense and an effective midfield that works for zero in their goal: in 15 games they only scored two goals. Their goalkeeper Damián Tello has gone 621 minutes without conceding a goal, and Lautaro Villegas is the top scorer with 12 goals (five in the Apertura and seven in the Clausura).
“From the beginning they signed up as the top candidates, with a coach (Gustavo Coleoni) with a lot of experience and hierarchy, and very important players. We found the best level from lowest to highest,” said Rolón.
When deepening the analysis at the football level and reviewing the match that crossed them in the Clausura, the Talleres coach stressed that “we will have to be very concentrated and attentive to all the details, in the last match that they beat us 2 to 1 (in Los Polvorines) they took advantage of two of our starting errors and with that they made the difference.” In the Apertura they had tied 1-1 in Escalada.
“San Miguel is a very well-worked team, with a lot of craftsmanship and that knows how to manage game times,” said the coach.
Trained at the Remedios de Escalada club, Martín Rolón had his chance as a coach of the professional team after working in the youth divisions.
“Knowing the club is important. Both Mauro – Marrone, his field assistant – and I know every corner, the people, what they feel and the excitement that exists around this project,” said Martín Rolón.
Finally, regarding this opportunity that was presented to him and he took great advantage of, the DT stressed that “from the first day we worked to reach this and it does not surprise us.”
“Maybe we still don’t have our feet on the ground, but we always understood that this was just a ticket to the final. That’s why the celebration was only on the day we beat Ituzaingó and reached the goal, but we are calm and with our minds put in this grand final,” concluded the Talleres coach.
