The 26-year-old athlete from Rioja himself explained the reasons for his absence from the continental competition, through his social networks.

“Unfortunately, a fracture of my left femur leaves me unable to close a competitive year,” said the cyclist, who obtained ninth position at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, by qualifying fifth in one of the semifinals.
Torres stressed that he was “much calmer after yesterday’s accident (on Friday). Many things go through my head but the only thing I have to think about is healing and feeling good,” he said.
The Riojan qualified as South American champion in Asunción (ODESUR Games) last October.
The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games will begin this Friday the 20th in the Chilean capital and will last until November 5.
